I strongly recommend listening to Flannery O'Connor herself read A Good Man Is Hard to Find. She has a wonderful accent.

The Tell-Tale Heart is indeed an excellent Poe story. There's also a compelling animation to look out for narrated by the late James Mason, a really fine actor known for his remarkable voice.

Thank you for compiling. I have read the first two before, will read the rest.

Leaf by niggle reminds me of the story The Last Leaf by O Henry, which is another classic.

My favourite, Poe. The madness! Masterfully translated by Baudelaire, the most famous of the poètes maudits. I read Poe first in his French rendition.

"Villains!" I shrieked, "dissemble no more! I admit the deed! - tear up the planks! - here, here! - It is the beating of his old heart!"

Boule de Suif is new to me; Leaf By Niggle might be my favorite short story of all time.

The hope it engenders in the reader is palpable. 🍁

I have read The Tell-Tale Heart (which left me in a spiral) and Leaf By Niggle. AMAZING STORIES. Also, BULLET IN THE BRAIN by Tobias Wolff is one such mind blowing (pun intended) short story.
